Nintendo Entertainment System and The Top 5 Games

BY Ando Gomez

Let’s talk about the best video game system that we all had as a kid. The Nintendo Entertainment System aka NES , This was the system that took Atari out of the market quickly it was the first 8 bit video game system. It was fist release in Japan in 1983. Which of course nobody knew about but them, which is fine it was developed in Japan. But in America It was released In Oct 18, 1985 it was two years later from the Japanese release. The Nintendo President Hiroshi Yamauchi called for a simple, cheap console with games that were in cartiages, which to me money making. Nintendo did release several add-ons, Like the Zapper for shooting games, the Power Pad from running games, Robbie The Robot, So you can see it has changed so much from Atari, but it was just the stepping stone of video games. And the top 5 games won’t be disappoint at all, these are games we know very well and love but, I will say the top 5 games was a little shocking.

Wow number 5 is Super Mario Bros. 3. Now who hasn’t spent countless hours playing all the Super Mario Bros. I remember beating the first and second one. And I will never forget when I was watching the movie The Wizard, Yes the Fred Savage movie that his brother is a video game genius. It was introduced in the movie for a contest and it was amazing. The Game Was developed and it was released in Japan in 1988 and North America it was released Feb 20, 1990, and finally released in August 1991. This game was praised by critics for it challenging gameplay. And it’s being regarded as the greatest video game of all time. I did add the part of the movie when it was introduced.

Took about a little bit of a shocker, is the number 4 its Mega Man 2, it was an action game developed and published but Capcom for the NES. It was Released in Japan of course in 1988 and almost 1 year later it was released globally. Although the first Mega Man sales were not impressive what’s so ever, Capcom allowed the team to create the sequel. Mega Man 2 is the second best selling Mega Man game with 1.51 million copies sold. Critics praised its audio and visual game play and the improvements that the game has made. The game’s soundtrack has also been consider to be the best one of all time.

Wow number 3 video game Duck Hunt is probably the first shooter game that actually game with the zapper, and it was the first system to bring two games Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. This game brings back a lot of memories shooting the ducks to see how many you can get. I always played this game it was so much fun but that dog was kinda annoying including with you miss, sometimes I remember throwing the zapper at the TV because of that freaking dog….

And the number 2 video game of the NES was Tetris real name Tetpnc, now that’s the real Russian name was for this game. The Designer Alexey Pajitnov wanted to build game with simple rules. Players complete lines by movies different shapes and pieces which goes to a playing fired. Complete the lines it would disappear and gave the players points. By December 2011 this game has sold 202 million copies. Making it the best selling video game in history of all consoles and NES. This game was released in Nov 1987.

And the number NES video game is of course Super Mario Bros. first of all this is was one of the most amazing games to get. Don’t get me wrong there is a ton of video games that can contend for this top spot, but the Mario Bros is the greatest fit. Developed and published in 19895 for the NES and the successor of the Mario Bros original video game. This game you were able to control Mario and Luigi to explore the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Toadstool from King Koopa ( AKA Renamed to Bowser ). Super Mario Bros. is cited to be one of the greatest video games of all time, and it has been re-released on most Nintendo system that came out of the Years later.

Talk about memory lane, NES really was an amazing video game, and if you were able to keep it now in 2024 its amazing thing to have, this is the console the started everyone’s childhood including mine.
