Wow top 5 songs of 1981 !! Granted I know I was only two years old when this music was out, it was still part of my life many years later as a child and now as an adult. With some of these songs reminds you on a lot of things, so lets read this awesome blog and take you back to memory lane.

So let’s start off wit the number 5 song of 1981 Jessie’s Girl a song that was truly written and performed by Australian ( Which I didn’t know) Singer Rick Springfield. Song was release of February of 1981, the song is about love and centers on a young man in love with his best friend’s girlfriend. In 1981, its release in America, Jessie’s Girl had a very slow break out. It hit the billboard chars on March 28th but it took almost 19 weeks to reach number 1. This song did win Rick a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. Also you can find this song in the hit movie Hot Tub Time Machine too !!

The Number 4 song in 1981 is ( Just Like ) Starting Over, is a song written and performed by John Lennon from his 1980 album Double Fantasy. It was the first new recording Lennon had released since he left the music industry in 1975. Lennon chose not because he felt it was the best track on the album , but it was because it was the most appropriate track after being out of the music industry for about 5 years.

Wow as we are moving a long with another amazing classic song Lady, this song was written by Lionel Richie and it was recorded by American Country Artist Kenny Rogers. Rogers did say in an interview “The Idea was that Lionel would come from R & B and I’d come from country, and we’d meet somewhere in pop”. This song launched Richie’s career, it was his first production work on a hit song outside the Commodores and it came to have impact on his solo career too.

Wow only two more songs and the number 2 songs of 1981 is Endless love, this song who I just talked about before Lionel Richie and recorded with duet singer/actress Diana Ross. Talk about a power house duo it was the singers declaring their “endless love ” for one another. While the Movie Endless Love was a modest box office showing, but the song became the second biggest hit and as we will go on to the number 1 song next !!!!!

And the number 1 song that took down Endless Love was the song that was written and composed by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon in 1974, It was made soo popular by Kim Carnes in 1981. It won a Grammy at 1981 for Song Of The year and Record Of The Year. That is soo huge these days. To Date it was Kim’s only top hit 40 song hit in the country. This songs Bette Davis Eyes was a number 1 hit for 21 countries.
