Wow I am back and been looking for to writing this one as the Songs of 1982 was a hit I can’t wait to sure what the songs of 1983 are. This list it’s a little weird you have the King of Top with 2 top 5 songs but it isn’t the number one song, Let’s say I was really surprised what the number one song is !! Why don’t we dive in and check it out !!!

As we dive in to this # 5 song which is Michael Jackson’s Beat It. This is from Jackson 6th studio album. It was written and produced by Quincy Jones and co-produce by Jackson. Jones actually encouraged Jackson to include a rock song and here it is with Beat It. Jackson said ” I wanted to write a song, the type of song that I would buy if I were to buy a rock song…. And I wanted the children to really enjoy it !! “, and this song included probably one of the most iconic guitar solo’s in history Eddie Van Halen. Beat it Received the 1984 Grammies for Record Of The Year and also Best Make Rock Vocal Performance. This writer is kinda shocked it wasn’t in the top 3 song of 1983 !!! But let’s see what else this list brings today !!!

And the number 4 song in 1983 is a song recorded by the Australian rock band Men At Work with Down Under. It was originally released as a B-side to their first local single Keypunch Operator. Now the Down Under Song we all come to know and love was release by Columbia from Men At Work’s debut album Business As Usual. Down Under is consider Australia as a patriotic song for them. The Lyrics of Down Under talks about an Australian man traveling the global, meeting people who are interested in his home country. The Story is based in part of the lead singer Colin Hay’s own travels. And what’s cool in the song they talk about a Vegemite Sandwich, well it’s a popular snack in Australia.

And we are the number 3 song of 1983, now this song was from the hit movie Flashdance and we all remember this movie when she is trying out for a dance company to make sure dancing career is stated in amazing fashion and a statement too. Irene Cara and her amazing went perfect for this song. The song was released before the movie was out to make a buzz and the music videos had clips of the movie too !!! Yes people MTV played one point music videos Hence Music Television aka MTV lol !!! This song did win a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance..

Now this is still a shocker to me that the King of Pop Michael Jackson has two that’s right Two top 5 songs and both aren’t one, this song was off the amazing record of Thriller with Beat It !!! The song blends post-disco, R&B, Funk, and also Dance-pop music. The Song was based on the narrator, is describe a woman, Billie Jean, who claims that the narrator is the father of her newborn son, which he denies, Jackson said the lyrics are based on groupies claims about his older brothers when then tour with them as the Jackson 5. This Jackson’s Best selling Color Single, Billie Jean is certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA) matter of fact best selling single EVER !!!!

And finally the number 1 song of 1983 is the hit single by the English Rock Band The Police with leader singer Sting, This single was one of the biggest hits in Canada and American. This song by The Police and Sting signature song and in 2010 was estimate to generate a quarter and a third of Stings Music Publishing income. This song won 2 out od 3 Grammies Song of the Year and best Pop Performance by a Duo or group with vocals. This is a huge accomplishment and it show Stings talents as he also went out to do a very successful Solo career.
